The map is different from an album of all photos

A photo can appear in Pogaem's album but not its map. Albums gather images; maps also need a capture location and matching display settings. A lower visible count does not by itself establish deletion or failed upload.

First open the photo in its calendar or album. If it opens but the map is empty, investigate location data. If the photo itself will not open, check connection and media state separately rather than only changing map settings. Separating the problems avoids unnecessary deletion and re-adding.

Photos without capture locations cannot be placed automatically

Even a clear landscape is not automatically recognized and placed if the file lacks coordinates. Screenshots and received copies can have different metadata from originals. Check whether the specific copy displays a location in the device gallery's information view.

Pogaem uses capture locations already embedded in photos and videos. It does not continuously track your current position to fill old photos' locations. Returning to the place or indiscriminately enabling current-location permission cannot create missing past metadata.

Check location consent for each calendar

You need not enable unwanted sharing merely to populate every photo on the map. Recording photos and text without locations is valid. If you choose not to use maps, continue browsing albums and dated entries.

  1. Open Location & Map in Pogaem settings.

  2. Check Show Location Photos and the individual calendar settings below, identifying the calendar containing the photo.

  3. If you want locations enabled, turn on that calendar and read the notice about capture locations found in local media and the sharing scope.

  4. For shared calendars, review that locations will also be visible to members before deciding to continue.

  5. Confirm completion and check the calendar on the map again. Treat a failure notice as unsuccessful.

Existing-location checks do not download every cloud original

Checking existing media uses originals currently on the device. Cloud-only originals are skipped rather than all downloaded for this task, with a notice when items are skipped. A small preview on screen does not mean the original file is local.

With many old entries or a newly set-up device, album totals and confirmed location-photo counts can differ. That alone does not prove an incomplete backup. Avoid deleting originals or app data as a first step when checking whether locations can be examined again.

Check calendar filters and the visible map area

Selecting only some calendars excludes others from the current map. Include the relevant calendar or reset the filter. Do not assume album date filters and map filters have identical controls; inspect the map's actual selections.

A zoomed-in region may leave photos elsewhere off screen. Zoom out or pan. If multiple photos share a location, tap the cluster to inspect its list. One map marker does not always mean one photo.

Distinguish an empty map from a failed map load

‘No photos with saved locations’ means none match the current conditions. A map-loading failure means connection or map-provider availability needs checking. Verify the connection and retry. Temporary map unavailability does not itself delete photo records.

For support, note the time, device type, whether only one calendar is affected, and the displayed message. You need not post home addresses or original photos publicly. Explain which location settings and filters you checked to avoid repeating the same investigation.

Frequently asked questions

Are photos missing from the map deleted?

Not necessarily. The map requires capture locations plus matching consent and filters. First check whether the photo opens in its calendar or album.

Will enabling locations map every old cloud photo?

Existing-location checks inspect local originals and skip cloud-only files without automatically downloading them. Photos lacking capture locations are not automatically placed either.

Does Pogaem track my current location to build the map?

No. It uses capture locations already embedded in media, not continuous tracking to infer old photo locations.
