Choose a level for your storage and preservation needs

Pogaem offers three photo quality levels for each calendar: Economy, Standard, and Original. Economy uses a 1440px long-edge limit and Standard 2048px, both at JPEG quality 85. Original does not resize or re-encode the file.

Your choice depends on whether you mainly view entries on a phone, want original files for exporting elsewhere, or need to conserve cloud storage. The level suited to the calendar's purpose is more practical than always choosing the highest setting.

Compare the three quality levels

Economy and Standard have different resolution limits but the same compression quality. Only Original keeps the file without further reduction. Actual file size depends on the scene and original format, so there is no single size per photo.

  • Economy: 1440px long edge and JPEG quality 85 when storage savings matter most.

  • Standard: 2048px long edge and JPEG quality 85 for a balance of screen viewing and storage.

  • Original: preserves the selected file without resizing or re-encoding.

  • All levels: separate thumbnails are created for quick display in on-screen lists.

How to change photo quality

For an existing calendar, change photo quality in that calendar's settings. When switching to Original, confirm after reading the warning that cloud storage usage may grow faster.

  1. Open the calendar whose quality you want to change and go to its settings.

  2. Check the current level under photo quality.

  3. Choose Economy, Standard, or Original for photos saved from now on.

  4. If newly selecting Original, read the storage notice and confirm.

  5. Check that the selected setting applies to photos you add next.

New calendars default to Original

Unless you have saved another default quality, new calendars start with Original. The default quality in app settings is a preset that determines the initial value for calendars you create later.

Changing the app default does not change existing calendars. Each calendar follows its own quality setting after creation, so check individual settings for important records too.

Changes do not apply retroactively

Changing photo quality does not recompress photos already saved or restore them to a higher quality. It changes only the storage format of photos captured or imported after the setting changes.

Switching from Economy to Original later cannot recover pixels from previously reduced files. For long-term preservation, choose a suitable quality when you start the calendar and keep important originals separately.

The owner decides shared calendar quality

In a shared calendar, every member's new uploads follow the photo quality set by the owner. Participants do not each choose a different upload quality, and only the owner can change the setting.

Shared photos and videos use the owner's cloud storage, so the person providing the space sets the storage format. Before switching to Original, review how many photos members are likely to add and how much space remains.

Frequently asked questions

What is the default photo quality for a new calendar?

Original is the default unless you save another preset. Changing the app's default quality affects only the starting value for calendars created afterward.

Does switching from Economy to Original restore existing photos?

No. A quality change applies only to photos saved afterward and cannot restore previously reduced photos to their originals.

Can shared calendar participants choose a separate quality for their photos?

No. The owner's quality setting applies to all members' newly saved photos in the shared calendar.
