Ask someone to help fill an empty date

An entry request lets you choose an empty date in a shared calendar and ask members to add that day's photos or notes. It identifies the calendar and date without making you explain them again in a group chat.

A request does not fetch someone's photos or create an entry on their behalf. The recipient must open the calendar, choose photos, videos, or notes, and save them for the date to be filled.

Requests work only on empty dates in shared calendars

Entry requests are available for dates without entries in shared calendars with other members, rather than personal calendars. If someone has already added an entry, review that content instead of requesting the same date.

You cannot send a request if there is no eligible recipient or you are no longer a member of the calendar. Check the member list and your current membership first.

How to send an entry request

Choose the date and recipients clearly, then send the request once. The server checks for duplicates and current entries, so use an internet connection.

  1. Select a date with no entries in the shared calendar.

  2. Tap Request Entry.

  3. Select one or more members likely to have photos from that day.

  4. Check your internet connection and send the request.

  5. Read the confirmation showing whether all or only some requests were sent.

Delivery also depends on the recipient's settings

An entry request is a shared-activity notification delivered through the server. Device notification permissions and network conditions may prevent a push from appearing immediately. A sent confirmation means the server received the request, not that the person will record right away.

For an important date, briefly explain the context instead of repeatedly pressing the request button. That makes the intended contribution clear even if pushes arrive quietly or notifications are disabled.

What to check when a request will not send

Common causes include being offline, an entry already existing, a duplicate request to the same person, or changed membership. Follow the on-screen guidance and recheck the date and recipients.

  • If disconnected, reconnect and try again.

  • Check whether another member has already filled the date.

  • Check whether you have already sent the same request to the selected person.

  • Check whether the intended recipients still belong to the calendar.

  • If the calendar is read-only, check the owner's service status.

Use requests as a low-pressure invitation

Entry requests help people fill dates together; they are not a way to demand daily recording. Use them selectively for dates when someone is likely to have photos, such as a shared trip or a child's special day, to preserve a comfortable rhythm.

Frequently asked questions

Can I request photos in a personal calendar?

No. Entry requests are for empty dates in shared calendars that have other members.

Can I send an entry request offline?

No. The server must verify members and the date's status and deliver the notification, so you need an internet connection.

Does sending a request automatically add the recipient's photos?

No. It is a notification asking for a contribution. The recipient must open the calendar and save photos, videos, or notes themselves.
