Recording together does not mean identical management permissions

Owners and participants can add photos, videos, and notes to the same shared calendar and comment on entries, but the owner manages the membership and calendar itself. Without knowing the difference, a participant trying to change settings or an owner trying to leave may think something is broken.

Everyone can view the member list. The available actions depend on the role: owners see invitations and removal, while participants see the option to leave the calendar.

The owner manages members and the calendar

The owner invites people, removes participants, and is responsible for shared calendar settings and deletion. Shared storage and video conditions are also determined by the owner's plan.

  • Invite new members with an 8-character code or link.

  • Remove participants from the member list.

  • Manage the shared calendar's main settings.

  • Decide whether to delete the shared calendar.

  • Determine shared video availability through a Lite or higher plan.

Participants contribute and can leave when needed

Invited participants can add photos, videos, and notes with other members and continue conversations through comments. They cannot remove members or delete the calendar, but can leave when they no longer want to participate.

A participant's uploaded photos and entries remain in the shared calendar after they leave. They lose access to its contents and need a new invitation to join again.

The owner cannot leave the calendar

Owners cannot use Leave, and Pogaem currently does not support transferring shared calendar ownership. If an owner no longer wants to maintain the calendar, they need to review members and entries before deciding whether to delete it.

Unlike leaving, deletion affects the calendar itself. At the start, choose someone who expects to keep their account long term, such as a family organizer or the group's record keeper.

Plan and storage conditions follow the owner

Whether videos can be saved depends on the owner having Lite or above, rather than on the uploading participant's plan. If the owner's storage is full or sharing conditions are unmet, other participants may also be unable to add entries.

When a feature is unavailable, identify the owner before changing a participant's plan. If the app directs you to check the owner's subscription or storage, the owner needs to take action.

Agree on roles before starting

For a long-running shared calendar, first agree on who will own it. Someone who will maintain their account and subscription consistently and handle invitations and member changes can make management simpler while ownership transfer remains unavailable.

Frequently asked questions

Can a shared calendar participant remove other members?

No. The owner manages invitations and removal. Participants can view members and leave the calendar themselves.

Can I transfer ownership of a shared calendar?

Ownership transfer is currently unsupported. Because owners cannot leave, choose someone who can manage the calendar long term when creating it.

Can a participant on Free upload shared videos?

The calendar owner's plan is the deciding factor, rather than the participant's personal plan. The owner must have Lite or above for videos to be saved in the shared calendar.
