The difference is who performs the action

Leaving lets a participant end their own access to a shared calendar. Removing a member lets the owner end another participant's access. Although the results look similar, the permissions differ: participants see Leave, while owners can remove members.

Both actions change server membership and cannot be completed offline. Connect to the internet so Home and the member list can reflect the correct status.

How a participant leaves a calendar

If you no longer want to record together, choose Leave Calendar on the members screen. You will lose access to its photos and entries after confirming, so finish any necessary discussion first.

  1. Open the settings or members screen of the shared calendar you want to leave.

  2. Select Leave Calendar below the member list.

  3. Read the notice that your uploaded entries will remain but you will no longer be able to view them.

  4. Confirm leaving while connected to the internet.

  5. Check that the shared calendar disappears from Home.

How an owner removes a member

The owner can select a participant in the member list and confirm removal to end their access. There is no undo button, so check that you have selected the correct account before continuing.

  1. Open the shared calendar's members screen and review the current members.

  2. Select the remove-member action in the intended participant's row.

  3. Check the person's name and the notice that the action cannot be undone.

  4. Confirm removal while connected to the internet.

  5. Refresh the member list and check that the person is no longer listed.

Existing photos and entries remain in the calendar

Whether a participant leaves or the owner removes them, their previously uploaded photos and entries stay in the shared calendar. Existing entries and current access permissions are handled separately so a past date does not suddenly become empty when membership changes.

The departed member can no longer view that calendar's photos or entries. To regain access, they need a new code or link from the owner and must accept another invitation.

Owners cannot leave or remove themselves

A shared calendar owner cannot leave, and the owner cannot be removed through the member list. Ownership transfer is also currently unsupported. If the owner needs to end the arrangement, they should first review which entries would be affected by deleting the calendar.

Do not delete the entire calendar just to remove one participant. The owner can remove that member while keeping the remaining members and existing entries.

An accidental departure or removal requires a new invitation

If someone leaves or is removed by mistake, the owner must issue a new invitation instead of restoring the previous membership. Existing entries remain in the calendar and become accessible again after rejoining, but access stays unavailable until the new invitation is accepted.
