Use the calendar for dates and the album for images

Calendar View shows which days have entries; a calendar's Album View shows its photos and videos newest first. They present the same data with date-focused and media-focused layouts.

Calendars are quick for habits or specific dates; the grid is quick for comparing expressions or choosing photos. Switching according to purpose can reduce scrolling.

When Calendar View helps

Calendar View suits checking monthly activity and gaps at a glance. Day covers show the month's changes alongside their time sequence.

  • Compare recorded and skipped days for exercise or plants.

  • Find a particular travel day's photos and notes.

  • Check and correct a misplaced entry date.

  • Review the flow of several entries on one date.

When Album View helps

A calendar's Album View lets you scan all its photos and videos beyond one month. Media appears in a three-column grid grouped by month, newest dates first.

  • Find recent uploads without navigating dates.

  • Scan long-term growth or change visually.

  • Get an overview of accumulated photos and videos.

  • Tap a chosen photo to enjoy it enlarged.

Switch between the two views

Use the toggle at the top of the calendar. Its icon represents the destination view, not the current one.

  1. Open a calendar and locate the grid-shaped button at the top.

  2. Tap it to open the calendar's full album.

  3. Browse month groups and newest-first media.

  4. Tap the calendar-shaped button to return to the monthly view.

Switching does not duplicate photos

Album View creates no separate album file and uses no second copy of cloud storage. It only changes the ordering and layout of already-saved media.

If a photo seems absent, first confirm that it was saved to that calendar and check its date and import results rather than assuming the view switch caused it.

Combine both in one routine

Select dates in Calendar View when writing, then scan the album at month-end. Refining day covers during review makes important scenes easier to spot the next time you open the calendar.

This album view is not a public feed or discovery page. It gathers only media within the calendar you opened.

Frequently asked questions

Does Album View show only the current month?

No. It continues through all photos and videos in that calendar, starting with the newest month.

Does switching to Album View copy photos?

No. It presents stored media differently without duplicate photo or video storage.

Can I see videos in a calendar's Album View?

Yes. That calendar's photos and videos share the grid according to date and display order.
