Too Many Similar Photos? Choose the Ones Worth Keeping in Your Diary

Compare one scene at a time for clarity, expression, and storytelling. Select diary photos first, set uncertain choices aside, and consider deletion separately.

Leaving a photo out is different from deleting its original

Photos taken repeatedly in one place differ in small ways: open eyes, natural gestures, and useful backgrounds may appear in different images. First ask what you want to see when revisiting the day instead of what to erase.

Selecting photos for Pogaem can remain separate from deleting device originals. A photo unused in the diary is not necessarily useless. Build the entry first; if cleanup is needed, check independent copies and storage purposes before deciding on deletion.

Compare a small group from the same scene

Opening a whole month's photos makes you compare unrelated events. Narrow the scope to one scene photographed in succession. Choosing cafe-seat photos separately from streets on the way home simplifies the criteria.

This applies both to bursts and repeated similar compositions. Identical copied files differ from similar photos with distinct expressions or moments. Do not assume they are the same material and erase them merely because they look alike.

Check clarity, then expression and meaning

This sequence guides your own choices. It does not describe Pogaem automatically deleting similar photos or evaluating expressions to select a representative image. Decide what matters and add the needed pictures yourself.

  1. Check whether blur makes the main subject unrecognizable. If the blur itself recalls the moment, do not exclude it solely for technical quality.

  2. Look at expressions and gestures. In group photos, check everyone rather than only one person.

  3. Check background clues to the place and atmosphere, comparing images that retain or crop them.

  4. Compare photos serving the same role and choose a representative. Do not automatically select the last one just because it is newest.

  5. Set difficult choices aside and revisit whether they add value after arranging the entry.

Give the main and supporting scenes distinct roles

For a park picnic, the wide view explains where, food shows what, and a wave captures a moment. They have different roles despite similar timing. Several portraits in the same pose may repeat one explanation, allowing you to center your favorite.

There is no fixed number to reach. A progression from the start of a smile to full laughter may justify a sequence. Ask whether each image adds information and whether scrolling repeats a scene or continues the story.

Review the story order in Pogaem

After adding your selections to one entry, review their sequence. Setting, action, and final view can recall the day's flow. If the order feels awkward, long-press media in the entry editor, rearrange it, and save.

Choosing the calendar-square cover is different from reducing an entire entry to one photo. A cover recognizable at small size can coexist with other contextual scenes in the detailed entry. An attractive enlarged photo and an informative day cover may differ.

Decide about deletion afterward

If your goal is writing a diary, you can stop once the selection is saved. If you need phone space, separately check which originals can be removed. First verify whether important photos exist only on this device and whether copies elsewhere actually open.

For shared output, inspect name tags and addresses as well as expressions. Choosing well involves more than sharpness. Check why you want to revisit the photo, whether context remains, and whether it can be shared as separate stages.

Frequently asked questions

Should I keep only one similar photo?

There is no fixed count. Distinct expressions or a meaningful event sequence can justify several. Compare images that repeat the same information.

Does Pogaem delete similar photos automatically?

This article explains manual selection criteria. It does not describe automatic duplicate-like photo deletion or expression assessment.

Can I immediately delete photos excluded from the diary?

Diary selection and original deletion are separate. Check that important originals or independent copies remain before deciding whether to delete anything.
